Green Island & Great Barrier Reef Combo Adventure

Experience the best of the Outer and Inner reefs off Cairns. Green Island is only a short 45 minute trip from Cairns.  You will spend the first part of your day exploring this beautiful 6000 year old coral cay before boarding the vessel to head to the Outer Great Barrier Reef pontoon.

Included in your price is all snorkel gear.  You have the option to swim from beach patrolled areas by lifeguards or take a stroll thru the unique tropical rainforest, laze on the white coral sand beach or take part in some of the optional activities that Green Island has to offer.  Your ultimate reef day out.

Full Itinerary

Passengers must check-in at the Great Adventures counter for boarding passes before boarding vessel. Boarding is 30 minutes prior to departure time.

From 9.30am – Check-in at Great Adventures Reservations Counter inside the Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal to obtain your boarding pass.

10:10am – Vessel boarding. Complimentary morning tea/coffee served on boarding. For your safety hot drinks are not served once the vessel is underway.

10:30am – Depart Reef Fleet Terminal for the Outer Great Barrier Reef platform via Green Island.

11:20am – Cake selection served on forward journey. During your journey to the reef, a Reef Presentation is shown on the vessel’s monitors. Snorkelling demonstration by crew.

12:30pm – Arrive at the Outer Great Barrier Reef platform. Reef activities commence:

  • Semi-submersible coral viewing tour with informative commentary departs every 30 minutes or as advised.
  • Snorkel directly from the platform. Collect your snorkel gear and buoyancy vests once on the platform.
  • Underwater observatory is open throughout the day for coral and fish viewing.
  • Pre-booked optional activities including introductory diving, Scuba-Doo and scenic helicopter flights commence as advised.

1.00-2.30pm – Hot and cold buffet lunch is served. Time for more reef activities or just relax on the sundeck and take in the views!

3:30pm – A blast on the ship’s horn will signal the time when all passengers should return to the vessel ready for departure.

3:40pm – A passenger count is conducted before leaving the Reef. Crew will announce when this commences and we ask all passengers to co-operate during this very important procedure by not moving about the vessel.

3:45pm – Departure to Cairns via Green Island. Complimentary cheese and biscuits served on homeward journey.

5:30pm – Arrive Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal.


FAQ

Certain medical conditions and medications may preclude some people from diving. For advice contact our reservations office or view medical information. Minimum age for diving is 12 years. We recommend a wait of 12 hours but preferably 24 hours, if doing multiple dives, before ascending to an altitude of 300 metres or greater. Snorkelling can be a strenuous activity. Please use caution and inform our crew of any medical conditions.
For cancellations after 6pm on the day prior to travel a 100% cancellation fee will apply. For cancellations between 12 midday and 6pm on the day prior to travel a 50% cancellation fee will apply. For cancellations before 12 midday on the day prior to travel no cancellation fee will apply. Any Environmental Management Charge collected is to be refunded. Any refund given will be by the same method payment was made. On rare occasions, services can be subject to the effect of weather or unforeseen circumstances. Should a cruise not operate for any reason passengers will be offered an alternative day of travel or a refund will be authorised. A change of travel date can be made to your booking without incurring any cancellation fee.

Yes providing we have availability. There are no fees to change dates, however you must notify us a minimum of 24 hours prior to travel.
A Government Environmental Management Charge (EMC) of $7 per person applies to all adults and children 4 years and over entering the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage area. This fee is included in the fare price.
