Diving Details
The SS Yongala Shipwreck is recognised Internationally in the top 10 shipwreck dives. The marine life is in abundance with the Yongala Shipwreck being in a Green Zone by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. Unaffected by any recreational or commercial fishing the wreck has become a feeding station for some many marine species and now covered in a variety of soft corals. With the opportunity to complete a night dive on the shipwreck makes this 2 day 2 night liveaboard so attractive to divers.
The Yongala can be a ‘difficult’ dive site which is prone to experiencing mild to strong ocean currents. This combined with her depth, make this a dive suitable for confident divers and not just experienced divers with Advanced certification or higher. Divers holding an Open Water Certification must complete the PADI Deep Adventure dive with one of the dive instructors. (Additional charges apply) The Townsville liveaboard dive trip includes two morning dives at the SS Yongala.
