Fitzroy Island is one of 600""Continental"" or""High"" islands on the Great Barrier Reef which means it used to be part of the mainland before rising waters separated this tranquil paradise. Over time a fringing coral reef surrounded the island, providing a sheltered home for a variety of fish and coral species.
Fitzroy Island holds beautiful unspoiled, uncrowded beaches and made up of 800 acres of National park and wildlife to explore - This is a perfect day out for anyone and well suited for family fun with snorkelling on the calm waters of Welcome Bay, or from the soft sands of Nudey Beach.Transfers only 45 minutes from Cairns keeping to the calm waters of the coastline and passing spectacular scenery.
On Fitzroy Island you can simply spend the day relaxing or more activities as you can think of while visiting the island. You will find the dive centre staff very accommodating offerig up to two guided certified dives each day. There is also a beach hire hut that has a range of snorkeling gear hire, plus they can book you on the glass bottom boat tour.
From here you can also hire a paddle ski and explore Welcome Bay, or try the fun of the Ocean Trampoline. Other activities include Sea kayaking half day tour - Nudey Beach (clothes optional - all over tan) - Bush walking on National Park walking tracks.
