Cairns offers those who want to learn how to scuba dive a range of great, professional courses and options. A popular choice is the 4 Day Open Water Course. This is offered by a few different operators and can easily be accommodated into any touring itinerary.

The 4 Day Open Water learn to scuba dive course takes you from being a complete beginner, with no experience necessary, to being a certified open water diver, capable of scuba diving anywhere around the world.

Cairns 4 Day Open Water Learn to Scuba Dive Courses

Cairns 4 Day Open Water learn to scuba dive courses include two days of classroom tuition and pool practice dives and two days of diving on the Great Barrier Reef. These days E-Learning has been introduced by PADI and SSI Dive Agencies.  E-Learning allows you to complete your theory in the comfort of your own home or even on the road while you’re travelling and saves one whole day of off your dive course. The dive course includes and covers all theory, equipment and safe diving practices.  Manuals are provided and tests need to be passed, before becoming a certified diver. For more information on E-Learning Dive Course options please contact us.

Liveaboard versus Day Boat Learn to Dive Cairns

From experience, I strongly recommend choosing a liveaboard option to complete your required ocean dives over a day trip course. Why? This provides more time diving and allows you to dive at different times of the day seeing your confidence grow very quickly. Day trips are a good choice for those students who are short on time when travelling.
