Trip Overview

Embark on an unforgettable journey exploring the breathtaking underwater landscapes of the Great Barrier Reef. Venture 100 miles north of Cairns to the Continental Shelf, where nutrient-rich waters attract an incredible variety of marine life. Dive along the renowned Ribbon Reefs, a prized section of the reef known for its exceptional coral formations and abundant biodiversity. One of the highlights of this expedition is the legendary Cod Hole, where you’ll have the rare opportunity to swim alongside enormous potato cod.

Throughout the trip, you’ll explore iconic dive sites, including Lighthouse Bommie, Gotham City, Pixie Pinnacle, Coral Kingdom, Cracker Jack, Flare Point, and Summer Bay. A standout on the itinerary is Steve’s Bommie, a site famous for its astonishing marine diversity, from tiny critters to larger pelagic species. Additionally, we’ll revisit hidden gems and forgotten dive sites, rediscovering spectacular locations that continue to deliver world-class diving experiences.

Itinerary

Sample Itinerary (Subject to change based on conditions)

Thursday
Check in at our office (3 Abbott St, Cairns) anytime between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm. From 4:30 pm, make your own way to meet your fellow passengers at the designated boarding point, with details provided at check-in. Please note that dinner is not provided on the first evening, so you may wish to eat beforehand.

At 5:50 pm, our crew will escort you aboard Spoilsport, where you’ll be welcomed with a glass of champagne and light snacks as your Trip Director provides a full briefing. Spoilsport departs Cairns at 6:00 pm, marking the beginning of your adventure. Take this time to organize any rental equipment and set up your dive gear on the dive deck.

Friday – Monday (Up to 4 dives per day + night dives Friday to Sunday)
Each day follows a relaxed yet adventure-filled schedule, with slight variations depending on weather conditions.

• 6:30 am – Wake-up call, light breakfast available in the dining room
• 7:00 am – Full cooked breakfast
• 8:00 am – Dive briefing
• 9:00 am – Diving commences
• 10:30 am – Second dive briefing & dive (Open deck allows 1–2 dives in the morning or afternoon)
• 2:00 pm – Lunch
• 3:30 pm – Afternoon dive briefing & dive
• 4:30 pm – Afternoon tea
• 6:30 pm – Night dive briefing & dive (Friday–Sunday)
• 8:00 pm – Dinner

On Monday, all diving concludes by 5:00 pm. As the sun sets, we celebrate the final night with champagne, nibbles, and an Aussie BBQ party. Don’t forget to wear your loudest tropical shirt or dress and enjoy live music performed by our talented crew.

Overnight, Spoilsport makes its return journey to Cairns.

Tuesday

• 7:00 am – Light breakfast
• 8:00 am – Disembarkation and courtesy transfer to Cairns inner-city hotels, the airport, or our office, where luggage storage is available until 4:00 pm for those with later flights.

Important:
To ensure safe flying after diving, we recommend a minimum 24-hour surface interval before your next flight. All diving concludes by approximately 4:00 pm on Monday.
