Take your diving to the next level with your Advanced Open Water Course. Build confidence and refine your skills while exploring the breathtaking Great Barrier Reef, the ultimate classroom with its vibrant marine life, diverse dive sites, and year-round great conditions..
Depending on how much time you have, you will have the option to complete your course in either two or three days.
This course consists of a minimum of 5 dives, three core dives—deep (up to 30m), navigation, and a thrilling night dive—plus two electives. Choose from nitrox, underwater naturalist, peak performance buoyancy, underwater photography, or more, tailored with your instructor onboard.
By completing your advanced course on a liveabaord, you will get additional dives that allow you to hone your skills.
Maximise your experience by adding the PADI Nitrox (Enriched Air) course, a quick specialty combining theory and two dives. Nitrox extends bottom time and reduces nitrogen load, perfect for liveaboard trips or capturing that perfect underwater shot. Fun dives between training dives ensure plenty of excitement and exploration!
Course Prerequisite – Open Water Certification
You will have access to a selection of 19 outer reef dive sites on four magnificent reefs Flynn, Thetford, Milln and Pellowe Reef. Diving at different times throughout the day, you will be able to encounter an amazing diversity of marine life including giant clams, sea turtles, stingrays, reef sharks, an incredible variety of tropical fish, spectacular coral formations with consistent underwater visibility. Night diving will introduce a whole new dimension of nocturnal life.
The instructors at the Great Barrier Reef dive centers are known for their exceptional professionalism, extensive experience, and passion. Facilities are well-equipped with modern gear, comfortable boats, and thorough safety protocols, ensuring a seamless diving experience. Located on the doorstep of one of the world’s most biodiverse ecosystems, the Great Barrier Reef offers unparalleled access to vibrant coral gardens, dramatic drop-offs, and abundant marine life.
Before commencing your PADI Advanced Open Water course, you are required to complete the self-assessment Continuing Education Student Diver Medical Declaration. A positive response to any question indicates there is a pre-existing condition which may affect your safety while diving and you must consult a medical practitioner, preferably with experience in diving medicine, to obtain a dive medical certificate that states you are medically fit to dive. If you are required to complete a dive medical this must be completed within 90 days of starting your dive course.
