SSI Open Water Course
If you’re looking to learn to dive and receive an internationally recognised certification, look no further than your open water certification. If you’re short on time, you can opt for the 2 day course, or if you are looking to take it at a more leisurely pace, you can take the 3 day course option.

Pre-requisites

Swim 200m without mask, snorkel or fins

Float or tread water for 10 minutes without flotation device

SSI Advanced Adventurer Course
Level up your diving and explore deeper with the Advanced Open Water course. Strengthen your skills, build confidence, and unlock new underwater adventures through five training dives — three from the beach on Magnetic Island’s stunning shores and two from a local dive boat at some of the region’s top sites.
Earn your certification to dive to 30 meters in 2 days and open the door to deeper, more exciting, and unforgettable experiences beneath the surface.
Pre-requisites

Open Water Diver licence, from any agency

Recent dive experience (if you have not dived in the past 12months please book a Refresher before enrolling in Advanced)

Full Itinerary
Open Water Course
Day 1
All Students
Arrive at our facility, meet your instructor and fellow dive buddies, knock out the paperwork and get hands-on with your scuba gear. After a quick swim and float test, we dive right into scuba skills training in our on-site pool, getting you prepped for the real thing.
2 Day Students
Those on the 2 Day intensive course will smash out the pool skills and complete their first ocean dive in the afternoon!
3 Day Students
Will likely spend the whole day doing pool training.
Day 2
2 Day Students:
Complete all three remaining ocean dives and wrap up your course with the final exam. Congrats!
3 Day Students:
Time to take the plunge! Head out for your first and second ocean dives, where you’ll explore Magnetic Island’s stunning fringing reef with a couple of shore dives that put your new skills to the test in open water.
Day 3
Complete a third shore based training dive and then one last epic dive to wrap up your training! After surfacing, it’s time for the final 50-question exam—but don’t stress, by now, you’ll be feeling like a natural. Pass that, and you’re officially a certified Open Water Diver!
Advanced Adventurer Course
Day 1
SHORE DIVE TRAINING
Meet at Pleasure Divers Magnetic Island 8:30 AM. Gear up and get ready! Today’s 3 training dives take place right off the beach in Alma Bay or Geoffrey Bay, where you’ll learn a new set of dive skills! Wrap-up at 4:30 PM – time to chill and soak in the island vibes!
Day 2
BOAT DIVING

Board the vessel from either:
Townsville – 7:00 AM
Magnetic Island – 7:45 AM

Set sail for an epic day of boat diving! You’ll complete two more training dives and experience your deep dive.

Return to shore either:
Magnetic Island – 4:45 PM
Townsville – 5:10 PM
