Trips are privately chartered for you and your group only, giving you the freedom to explore tranquil coral reefs at your own pace. Charters start at $4000 per day and accommodate up to 6 guests for overnight or multi-day expeditions.

John Brewer Reef & MOUA — Museum of Underwater Art

Home to the internationally renowned MOUA Coral Greenhouse installation by Jason deCaires Taylor, John Brewer Reef combines incredible coral coverage, calm lagoon-like conditions, and a breathtaking underwater art experience. A must-see for divers and snorkelers alike.

Lodestone Reef

A favourite for its vibrant coral gardens, curious turtles, and excellent visibility. Lodestone provides a range of plateau and bommie dive sites ideal for exploration and relaxed underwater time.

Keeper Reef

Famous for healthy hard coral structures, swim-throughs, and schools of reef fish, Keeper Reef offers diverse dive profiles for every experience level, plus some great macro photography opportunities.

Wheeler & Davies Reefs

Further offshore — ideal for multi-day trips — these pristine reefs boast dramatic drop-offs, large pelagic encounters, and less boat traffic for a truly remote reef getaway.

SS Yongala Shipwreck

Experience one of the top wreck dives in the world — the historic SS Yongala, lying 30 metres beneath the surface and completely encrusted in vibrant marine life. This intact passenger ship sank in 1911 and is now a thriving oasis for large marine species not commonly seen on shallow reefs.

Helix Reef

A beautifully remote section of the outer reef, Helix Reef is known for its impressive coral formations, towering bommies, and abundant marine life. Divers can explore winding swim-throughs, cascading coral walls, and sandy patches where reef sharks and stingrays often rest.

With Ocean Magic Private Charters, you have the freedom to create your own itinerary exploring the spectacular reefs and dive sites of the Outer Great Barrier Reef. Whether you want to spend your days diving vibrant coral walls, snorkelling in crystal-clear lagoons, or relaxing on deck between reef stops, your trip will be fully tailored to your preferences.

Charters depart from Townsville at approximately 7:30 am and return around 4:00 pm on the final day. A minimum of 2 days / 1 night is required to make the most of the offshore locations, giving you plenty of time to dive, explore, and unwind in comfort.

All itineraries are weather and destination dependent, ensuring that your experience is both safe and enjoyable. Our experienced crew will provide expert recommendations for the best reef locations and conditions during your chosen travel dates — from the iconic SS Yongala wreck to John Brewer Reef and the Museum of Underwater Art, or the remote coral gardens of Keeper and Lodestone Reefs.
