The Gold Coast is known to be Australia’s playground, but underneath the waves of this popular tourist destination are some world-class dive sites which showcase Australia’s vibrant marine life. With the world’s first and only buoyant artificial reef, stunning natural reefs and an iconic shipwreck, the Gold Coast has something for divers of all experience levels.
Wonder Reef, the world’s first and only buoyant artificial reef, has captured the imagination of Scuba Divers and conservationists alike. This ambitious project stands as a testament to the Gold Coast region’s commitment to preserving marine ecosystems and enhancing underwater experiences. The structures begin at 8 metres below the surface, and are anchored to the sea-floor at 30 metres, suiting the needs of divers of all levels of certified divers.
Diving Cook Island is a must for marine life enthusiasts. This protected marine reserve boasts vibrant coral reefs, a large number turtles, rays, and diverse tropical and temperate fish species. With calm conditions and maximum depths of 14 metres, it’s perfect for all levels. Whether you’re a macro enthusiast, a turtle lover, or want to experience Scuba Diving for the first time, Cook Island has something for everyone.
This dive trip provides the opportunity to explore some of the Gold Coast’s local reefs as well as the Wreck of the Scottish Prince. Both of these sites show off a beautiful example of the Gold Coast’s biodiversity with large schools of yellow-tail scads, octopuses, nudibranchs and Wobbegong sharks calling these sites home all year round. With maximum depths of 16 metres at Palm beach reef and 13 metres at the Scottish Prince, these sites are suitable for all levels of certified divers.
North Stradbroke Island is a world class location for diving. With Humpback whales and Grey Nurse Sharks passing through on their annual migration in the winter, and Leopard Sharks and Manta rays returning in the summer, the mega fauna that these dives provide is a diver’s paradise.
