Great White Shark Expedition (4 days/3 Nights)

Summer (December – February)

This exclusive 4-day expedition is designed for those who want the most immersive and educational Great White Shark experience possible. With extended time on location, you’ll maximise your chances of shark encounters and gain a deeper understanding of their behaviour from our expert crew.

Qualified SCUBA divers have the rare opportunity to descend in the world’s only Ocean Floor Cage, while all guests can come face-to-face with Great Whites in our Surface Cage — no dive experience required.

Whether you’re a passionate shark enthusiast, seasoned diver, adventure seeker, or underwater photographer, this expedition delivers unforgettable moments with one of the ocean’s most iconic predators.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Welcome Aboard + Sea Lion Snorkel
Meet outside the Marina Hotel, Port Lincoln at 1:00 PM for boarding. After settling into your cabin and a safety briefing, we cruise through the scenic Thorny Passage toward Hopkins Island for an unforgettable snorkel with playful Australian Sea Lions — the “puppy dogs of the sea.”

We then continue to the renowned Neptune Islands Marine Park and anchor for the night. This is the perfect time to test dive gear, enjoy a delicious buffet dinner, take in a fascinating shark research presentation, and relax under a sky full of stars. (No shark attractant is used on Day 1.)

Day 2 – First Shark Encounters + Island Exploration
This morning, the action begins! Divers are briefed and the surface cage goes in the water for our first Great White encounters. Once everyone has experienced the surface cage, SCUBA-certified guests have the chance to descend in the Ocean Floor Cage for an extraordinary perspective.

Between dives, join a tender tour to see New Zealand Long-Nosed Fur Seals and seabirds, and — when conditions allow — take a guided walk on the Neptune Islands. After dinner, dive deeper into shark science with engaging evening talks before resting up for another big day.

Day 3 – Full Shark Diving + Wildlife & Relaxation
Another full day dedicated to Great White Shark viewing — from the boat, surface cage, or ocean floor. You’ll be amazed how quickly your shark ID skills develop!

Unwind in the afternoon with a chilled drink while listening to seals along the shoreline, or simply enjoy free time to read, rest, and soak in the raw beauty of this world-class marine environment.

Day 4 – Final Dives + Dolphin Escort Home
Make the most of your last shark-diving opportunities — with no strict cage time limits, everyone gets their fair share of the action. Prefer to relax? Wildlife watching from the deck is always rewarding.

We depart the Neptune Islands around 3:00 PM and cruise back to Port Lincoln with “wine on the bow” and a delicious South Australian charcuterie spread — often joined by dolphins riding the wake.

Please note: Itinerary is subject to weather and operational flexibility to ensure the best possible wildlife experience.
