Coral Bay | Ningaloo Reef Liveaboard Dive Trips (Western Australia)
Coral Bay’s Ningaloo Reef liveaboard dive trips provide the ultimate way to experience this World Heritage listed wonder. The Ningaloo Coast was added to the international UNESCO World Heritage listed in 2011 as a natural site, joining its eastern seaboard cousin the Great Barrier Reef, as a must do for divers around the world seeking the ultimate Australian diving adventure.
Ningaloo Reef is perhaps best known for its large number of whale sharks. It’s estimated that between 300 – 500 whale sharks annually aggregate in these waters, providing visitors with the unique opportunity to come face to fin with these gentle giants of the sea. Of course Ningaloo is home too much, much more including coral gardens, manta rays, turtles, sharks and hard and soft corals.
There is only one Ningaloo reef liveaboard dive trip, which offers set departure dates from Coral Bay from March to December [closed January and February due to inclement weather]. The trips vary from 3 nights to 5 nights, allowing for a great range of diving and snorkeling. Water temperatures range from 22 – 29 degrees and wet suits and lycra suits are provided for all divers.
Benefits of Ningaloo Reef Liveaboard Dive Trips versus Day Trips
Ningaloo Reef is big. There’s lots to explore and beyond the obvious attraction of in-water activity with the whale sharks (seasonal), there’s coral gardens, drop offs and even wrecks. By choosing to do a Ningaloo Reef liveaboard dive trip, over a day trip, you can see and do a whole lot more of this natural wonder.
Ningaloo Reef water depths vary from 5 – 25m and these dive trips will be suitable for and appeal to everyone from a beginner diver to an advanced diver. Beginner divers will appreciate the shallow waters and opportunity to complete multiple dives over multiple days. This means there will be more than enough time to get comfortable in the water and really start to enjoy your diving and exploring as the trip progresses.
Experienced divers will enjoy the diversity of Ningaloo Reef diving attractions and locations. They’ll also get the opportunity to take some early morning dives and night dives, which in my opinion, are some of the best times to dive in regards to marine diversity and experience.
This operator does give you the opportunity to complete some PADI courses during their Ningaloo Reef liveaboard dive trip. Contact us today, to discuss departure dates and whether this trip is the best choice for you and your dive experience / expectations.
