Upon successful completion of your training, you’ll earn a scuba diving certification recognized worldwide. Important Information – Dive Medical

If you are enrolling in an entry-level recreational diving certificate you must complete and submit the following self-assessed Open Water Course Medical Declaration form before starting your training.

Entry Level Student Medical Declaration

If it has been identified on the stated document that you:

(a) have or have had any of the medical conditions mentioned in the medical declaration

(b) are over 45 years old

(c) have a body mass index over 30 AND a waist circumference greater than 102 cm for males and 88 cm for females

then you must have completed by a doctor the below English language Open Water Student Medical. Participant Medical Questionnaire (must be completed within 90 days of course commencement) certifying that you are medically fit to dive.

Everyone undertaking training for an entry level recreational diving certificate must be at least 10 years of age. If the diver is under 18, parental or guardian consent should be obtained for the diver to undertake training for an entry-level recreational diving certificate.

The course is conducted in two components:

  • 2 days of pool and classroom training
  • 2 x 1 day trips to the outer Great Barrier Reef

Reef Trip – Day Dive Vessel

  • Ability to swim – 200m (or 300m with mask, fins and snorkel) and tread water (float) for 10 minutes
  • Minimum age 10 years
  • Some medical conditions may prevent you from diving. Prior to commencing your dive course you are required to complete the self-assessment Student Diver Medical Declaration. A positive response to any question indicates there is a pre-existing condition which may affect your safety while diving and you will need to obtain a dive medical certificate that states you are medically fit to dive.
  • If you do require a dive medical, it must be obtained prior to commencing the course and must not be more than 90days old when you start with us.

 

PADI 3 Day eLearning Open Water Course

Course Structure 

eLearning – You get to complete all the PADI theory in the comfort of your home.
Day 1 – Port Douglas Training Centre (complete all your diving equipment and skills in a custom built swimming pool.
Day 2 – 1st Day trip out at the Great Barrier Reef to start your training dives.
Day 3 – 2nd Day trip back to the Great Barrier Reef to complete your training dives along with up to two fun dives (as a newly certified diver)

Note: *Private classes available on request in English, German, French and Spanish. Minimum class sizes may apply.

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel your learn to dive course for any reason up to 48 hours prior to commencing your course, and receive a refund less the PADI eLearning*. There is no refund for any reason after this time. *The PADI eLearning portion of the course is non-refundable.

Dive Medical Requirements

All participant will be required to complete a dive medical questionnaire to determine if a dive medical is required. Learning to scuba dive in Queensland requires if you are 45 or older to obtain a dive medical stating you are fit to scuba dive. We will provide you at the time of your booking/enquiry a copy of the dive medical

Children learning to scuba dive

Children aged 10 and 11 are able to complete the PADI Junior dive course. Based on the age we ask you to contact us first as special requirements will apply by the dive centre
