About the course

Embark on an unforgettable journey and learn to dive to become a certified SSI Open Water Diver aboard Summer Jo! This 3-day, 3-night liveaboard adventure offers the perfect balance of hands-on training, breathtaking outer barrier reef dives, and total immersion in the underwater world. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, you’ll learn to dive and develop the skills and confidence to explore the ocean safely, earning a globally recognised certification that allows you to dive anywhere in the world.

All dives and SSI eLearning (theory) are completed on board so all your time is spent exploring the inner and outer reefs of the Whitsunday Islands while completing you dive course. SSI Open Water Diver Course is the first recognised step in scuba diving training. You will learn the fundamentals to become a confident and capable scuba diver.

Booking Terms

Cancellations made within the applicable cancellation period will result in forfeiture of the full ticket price.

Cancellations made outside these periods will receive a full refund, less any credit card or administration fees.

Overnight Tours – If you cancel within 14 days of departure then no refund.

Booking Amendments – If you have been approved to move your date of travel, and you are within our cancellation period, a $50 per person transfer fee may be applicable.

SSI Advanced Open Water Certification

  • Ages: 12+
  • Academic Sessions – SSI eLearning to complete the theory components of the each speciality dive
  • Ocean Dives – 5 Speciality Dives (Deep, Navigation, Night, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Fish ID specialities)
  • Maximum Depth – 30m/100ft
  • Prerequisites – Open Water Diver certification

Are dietary requirements catered to on Summer Jo?

Yes, if you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know at the time of booking. Please note there will be an additional fee of $15 per person per night to cover extra costs

What is the minimum age to travel on Summer Jo?

What is the cancellation policy?

14-day cancellation policy prior to departure date

Do I need a medical certification to learn to dive or try diving for the first time?

Important: Some medical conditions may prevent you from diving. You will be required to complete a Continuing Education Medical Statement stating you are fit to scuba dive. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your current fitness, we suggest you obtain a medical stating you are fit for scuba diving.
