A rare Great Barrier Reef dive expedition exploring remote outer reefs departing Airlie Beach.
Only four expedition departures in 2026 – July, August, September and October. These remote outer reef sites are rarely dived and offer night diving and sailing adventures unlike no other trip in the Whitsundays. SV Summer Jo is the only liveaboard sailing vessel in the Whitsundays offering a 6-day, 5-night Coral Sea expedition which includes the legendary SS Yongala wreck. Summer Jo is a 100ft mega yacht features 13 private, air-conditioned ensuite cabins and a crew who know these waters like no other.
This expedition is planned to take you beyond the beaten path to exceptional dive and snorkel locations:

All certified diving is included in the 6 day 5 night liveaboard trip
Meals ($75 addition for dietary requirements for 6 Day 5 Night Voyage)
Refreshments throughout the trip including unlimited filtered tap water, tea & coffee,
Snorkel gear and stinger suits if required (Nov-April)
If diving, all dives & equipment is included.
Linen and bath towels are provided for your comfort.
Marine Park fees are included in the package.
BYO Alcohol (Alcohol is not served onboard)
Guests are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages onboard.
Please bring cans or plastic bottles no glass bottles or red wine permitted
All alcohol must be stored safely in designated areas.
BYO Soft Drinks
Guests may bring their own soft drinks, bottled water, and non-alcoholic beverages.
We encourage the use of reusable drink bottles to help reduce waste.
Additional soft drinks can be purchased onboard if required

DAY 1 – Arrival & Introduction Dive
Meet at Port of Airlie Marina at 11:00am for gear setup and safety briefing. Afternoon sail through the Whitsundays before an overnight passage to the SS Yongala wreck.
DAY 2 – SS Yongala Wreck
Two unforgettable day dives at one of the world’s top dive sites. Optional night dive for a unique nocturnal reef encounter.
DAY 3 – Faith Reef
Three vibrant day dives plus snorkelling opportunities. Optional night dive before the
overnight passage to Elizabeth Reef.
DAY 4 – Elizabeth Reef
Three pristine reef dives in a rarely visited coral atoll, plus snorkelling between dives.
Optional night dive.
DAY 5 – Bait Reef Kennedy Reef
Three dives exploring crystal lagoons, swim-throughs, and abundant marine life. Snorkelling available for all guests.
DAY 6 – Early Morning Snorkel & Return
One final snorkel session before brunch on board and a relaxed cruise back to Airlie Beach.
