What should I bring?
Luggage limit of 15kg in soft bag plus carry on day pack. No hard cases please. Essential: Reusable water bottle Lightweight, breathable clothing Long-sleeved shirts and long pants (for sun protection) Warm layers, puffer jacket, gloves and beanie for winter nights (temps can drop to 5-10°C in June–Aug) Comfortable, closed-in hiking shoes Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen Torch or headlamp Power bank and chargers for your devices Toiletries, sunscreen, insect repellent and personal medication Swim Towel Day pack
How fit do I need to be?
This tour is people for people with a moderate level of fitness and mobility, who can hike 3-5kms a day over uneven terrain and sandy tracks. Temperatures can be extreme, very high during summer days and very cold during winter nights.
Can you cater for my dietary requirements?
Yes, passengers with special meal requirements or food allergies MUST ensure they inform us at least 72 hours prior to the trip commencing. Food for the trip is purchased before commencement and special requirements cannot be catered for after departing. Due to the remote nature of our tours, food is basic but plentiful. We can cater for the following dietary requirements: No Pork No Dairy Vegetarian Vegan Gluten Free (& Coeliac)
Where will I sleep?
During your Fraser Island adventure, you’ll sleep in an enclosed, dingo-proof beach-side campsite on K’gari (Fraser Island) in permanent twin-share dome tents. Each tent comes with a pillow, foam camping mat, and sleeping bag. The campsite is specifically set up for tour groups and is managed with respect to the Butchulla people, the traditional owners of K’gari. This lets you immerse yourself in the island’s unspoilt wilderness while still having the essentials for a comfortable overnight stay. Fall asleep under the stars to the sounds of the ocean and wake up surrounded by pristine beaches and lush rainforest.
Will there be mobile coverage on tour?
Mobile coverage will be intermittent. We recommend letting friends and family know you may be out of contact during the tour. Guides are equipped with satellite phones for emergencies only.
Will I have help on tour?
Yes – while your guide will take care of most of the meals, you’ll have the chance to get involved with simple daily tasks like setting up camp, meal prep, and tidying up. It’s all part of the shared experience, and your help is always appreciated. Many travelers say that pitching in helps them feel more connected and less like a tourist – it’s all part of the adventure!
